"White phosphorus can be used legally in war to provide light, create smokescreens or burn buildings, so it is not banned under international treaties that forbid using chemicals as weapons.
Colonel Gregory Julian, a spokesman for the commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan, General David McKiernan, confirmed that Western forces in the country use the chemical."
Is this what we want our Canadian Forces possibly engaged in doing? Dropping phosphorous bombs in Afghanistan? I hope not, but you never know with this government we have.

This is really disturbing. When we're already fighting this war on the cheap and making the Afghan civilian population pick up the tab for that, the idea of using white phosphorus on them is monstrous.

Disturbing to say the least! If we get drawn into this type of bombing we will pay dearly for it not only on the world stage but with our moral compass. The whole thing is horrific - war is always so - but this as well? And to think we could have been out of Afghanistan THIS year, or at least playing a different role there: Re-building, training, peace-keeping.
